In the enchanting world of a three-year-old, there lies a realm of wonder that captivates hearts and minds. Those little things they say as they are figuring out the world are priceless gems that we're so often unable to capture because our hands and minds are otherwise occupied.

As I raised Isabella, juggling my corporate career, international studies and other life responsiblities, my phone was always in my pocket and I accumulated over fifteen thousand videos and images of her. When I look at them, I'm instantly transported back to the moment like a vivid dream. The first day I took her to a beach as a baby and she shoved sand into her mouth; her first tree climbed and her expression as she looked at herself in the mirror wearing a tiara, tutu and my high heels - these are the hallmarks of childhood I never want to forget. But how does one retain this magical childhood innocence? How does one ensure these priceless nuggets are never forgotten?
I love scrolling throguh my pictures in the evenings, especially the random memory selections my phone produces. I can hear her determined voice saying "mummy, mummy, mummy", smell her baby powder and tap into her wild imagination that transforms a sandpit into a kitchen.
By visiting these moments with respect and reverence for childhood, one may find themselves on the brink of a magical encounter. By quieting the mind, putting aside the pressures of work and attuning oneself to the present, one may better lock in the memories and wonder of childhood.
So, if you ever find yourself frantically replying to emails on your phone whilst your child is playing in front of you, consider shutting down your email and flick open your camera app - for you never know when you might just stumble upon a real-life fairy, and unlock the secrets of a world filled with magic and wonder.
